Has your New Year's Resolution to exercise fallen to the wayside? Perhaps you're looking for a way to connect with nature? Or maybe you simply love the quiet solitude of a morning walk or evening stroll? Whatever your motivation might be this Lenten season, all are welcome to join our Catholic Community in a
Walk to Jerusalem. This is a virtual journey that should bring time for reflection, prayers, and an overall sense of physical, spiritual, and emotional well-being.
The goal is to collectively travel the 6,098 miles from Athens, Ohio to Jerusalem, Israel beginning Ash Wednesday through Good Friday (February 18-April 3). Everyone in the parish is inivted to help log the miles to contribute to our parish goal of traveling to Mount Calvary during the 45 days of Lent. All you need to do is:
Commit to walking/running each week;
Keep track of how any miles you walk/run each week (Tip: Use a tracking app on your smartphone such as the MapMyRun App or the Nike+ App or map your route onhttp://www.mapmyrun.com);
Focus on specific intentions and blessings during your walk;
It's that easy! On the website, you'll also find a link for weekly devotions to reflect and encourage you through the journey. You can also see where we are on the map. And of course, you should invite family and friends to take part in the virtual pilgrimage. Feel free to contact Sarah Nimeth ([email protected]) with any questions.
