Lynn, the beloved daughter of Zita (Connor) and Harold Kessler, peacefully passed away in her home in Evergreen, Colorado surrounded by family and friends on May 2, 2016, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Nelsonville, Ohio on Oct. 19, 1950, and was a long-time resident The Plains, Ohio.
She graduated Athens High School in 1968 and attended Ohio University where she attained a bachelor's degree in music education and a master's degree in music. She taught music in the Nelsonville-York School District for 35 years.
Lynn devoted her life to pursuing a musical passion. She was a long-time member of Christ the King and Saint Paul's Roman Catholic Churches. She served as Music Minister and Director of Music for both parishes. Through her musical talents she brought spirituality, peace, and love to every mass. She was also very active in the community theater and other musical events which included Athenian Berean Community Players, Athens High School Theater Group, Ohio Valley Summer Theater, Legends, and performed with the Angela Blair and the Sullivan Combo.
As a credit to her musical prowess, while she served as a musical director she was never the focus of attention. She always put other musicians in the spotlight, made the audience feel good, and created an atmosphere of delight. Through her music, she brought light into everyone's life she met. These characteristics transcended into her personal life too.
Through her devotion to music education she was adored by the abundant number of students that she taught, positively influenced members of the Athens' Catholic parishes, and inspired numerous lives to appreciate music and pursue a career in music.
Lynn is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her three children: Mr. Joshua Yaskoff of Navarre, Florida, Mrs. Tanya (Yaskoff) and Charles Martelli, of Evergreen, Colorado, and Mr. Nicholas Yaskoff and Sara Watchorn of Salt Lake City, Utah; two siblings: Mrs. Julie (Kessler) and Steven Bartram of Huntington, West Virginia and Dr. Fritz Kessler and Loretta Bush of State College, Pennsylvania; and five grandchildren: Timothy Yaskoff, Paige Yaskoff, Gavin Martelli, Adaline Martelli, and Alexandria Martelli.
