It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden death of Fr. Peter Raposo. Fr. Peter was a doctoral student from the School of Communication Studies at Ohio University and an assistant in our parishes.

Fr. Peter was a priest of the Society of Missionaries of St. Francis Xavier of Goa, India (also known as “The Pilar Fathers”), and a resident of Athens since 2012. He was 43 years old.

We extend our sympathy to his family, his religious community, and his friends. Information on a funeral Mass/Memorial Service will be forthcoming.

Please remember the repose of his soul in your prayers.

O God, You raised your servant Peter to the sacred priesthood of Jesus Christ, giving him the sublime power to offer the Eternal Sacrifice, to bring the Body and Blood of Your Son Jesus Christ down upon the altar, and to absolve the sins of human beings in Your own Holy Name. We beseech You to reward his faithfulness and to forget his faults, admitting him speedily into Your Holy Presence, there to enjoy forever the recompense of his labors. This we ask through Jesus Christ Thy Son, our Lord. Amen.
