A prayer service for peace will be held Thursday, September 5th at Christ the King Church at 6:00 PM. The service is open to all members of the community concerned about the crises in the Middle East, particularly in Syria. Pope Francis has called for a "global prayer vigil for peace" regarding the volatile political environment.

Pope Francis stated recently, “There are so many conflicts in this world which cause me great suffering and worry, but in these days my heart is deeply wounded in particular by what is happening in Syria and anguished by the dramatic developments which are looming..."

“For this reason, brothers and sisters, I have decided to call for a vigil for the whole Church,” Pope Francis announced. He continued, "It will be a day of fasting and prayer for peace in Syria, in the Middle East, and throughout world."
