Our Newman Community and Youth Group will trim Giving Trees and place them in the gathering space at each parish church. Please look for it and select a gift tag. On the tag you will find instructions for purchasing either a child's toy or book, which will be distributed to needy children through Athens County Children's Services or food parcels which will be delivered by our St. Vincent de Paul Society volunteers.
As last year, members of our parishes hope to provide gifts for 150 children and non-perishable food items for 60 needy families. Please leave your gifts of toys, books, and food parcels under the Giving Tree no later than Sunday, December 15. As indicated on the tags, please pack your food donations in standard reusable grocery bags instead of other containers. If you have need, our St. Vincent de Paul Society has provided a supply of reusable bags at each Giving Tree which you may use to pack your donation.
It is Athetns County Children's Services policy to accept only new items for distribution to their clients. Therefore, be certain to leave the sales tags with the price marked out of removed attached to the gifts you purchase. You may wrap your gifts if you choose, but if you wrap them, please attach the gift tag showing the recipient's age and gender along with a description of the gift's contents to the outside of the package.
Please contact Naomi or Tom Stork at 740-592-1148 if you have any questions.
