Our pastor, Fr. Mark Moore, was challenged three times to complete the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. This challenge brings about awareness to the struggles of ALS, or Lou Gehrig's disease.
What many don't realize is that sometimes the research process to help find the best treatments and ultimately a cure for this disease uses embryonic stem cells that are harvested after abortions. Fr. Mark talks about this in his video, urging Catholics to make their donations for the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge to pro-life organizations like the John Paull II Medical Research Fund in Iowa City, Iowa which uses only adult stem cells for their research process. Fr. Mark completed the challenge on Wednesday night, August 27, after the first Newman meeting of the academic year.
